BREAKING: Tinubu to Announce New INEC Chairman Today

Abuja Nigeria - President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is set to announce the successor to Professor Mahmood Yakubu as Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) after the ongoing Council of State meeting in Abuja.


According to sources, the President will present a list of nominees for the position, and the Council of State, comprising former Presidents Olusegun Obasanjo and Goodluck Jonathan, state governors, and other members, will provide advisory input.


Professor Yakubu's second term as INEC Chairman ended recently, and he handed over to May Agbamuche-Mbu, the most senior national commissioner, who will serve as Acting Chairman pending the appointment of a substantive successor

Ahead of the May 5 governorship primaries of the All Progressives Congress APC in Ekiti State, a frontline contender for the APC governorship ticket, Honourable Bamidele Faparusi, on Wednesday, obtained governorship nomination form to enable him participate in the forthcoming governorship primaries of the party.
