Osinbajo Sets to Review Babangida's Explosive Memoir

The book launch, which will also serve as a fundraising event for the IBB Presidential Library, has sparked controversy, with some critics questioning the timing and content of the memoir. Babangida's regime, which lasted from 1985 to 1993, was marked by several significant events that shaped Nigeria's history, including the Structural Adjustment Programme (SAP), which sparked a nationwide riot, and the unresolved murder of veteran journalist Dele Giwa. Abuja | Friday 24 January, 2025 President Bola Tinubu has given his tacit approval to the removal of Hon. Mudashiru Obasa as Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly. This comes after Obasa's impeachment by 32 out of the 40-member Assembly last week, citing alleged infractions including corruption and highhandedness. In a closed-door meeting in Abuja, President Tinubu met with the Assembly's new leadership, including newly elected Speaker Rt. Hon. Mojisola Lasbat Meranda and members of the Governance Advisory Council (GAC). Notably absent were Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Deputy Governor Obafemi Hamzat, and the ousted Speaker Obasa, despite being in Abuja.
