As Christians around the world celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ, a sociopolitical organization, Action Group Renewal Organization (AGRO Nigeria), has extended its warmest felicitations to Christians in Nigeria, particularly in Ekiti State, on the occasion of this year's Christmas celebration.
In a statement released in Ado-Ekiti on Wednesday and signed by its Initiator, Comrade Adeyinka Fadumiye, the group underscored the significance of the season.
According to Comrade Fadumiye, "Christmas symbolizes love. The birth of Jesus Christ, who came to this world for the salvation of mankind, is the greatest love anyone could ever give."
Comrade Fadumiye acknowledged that the birth of Jesus was to save humanity from eternal destruction, a sacrifice made possible by Jesus' love for humanity. He emphasized the importance of emulating Christ's selfless love and kindness during this festive season and beyond.
AGRO Nigeria urged Christians in the country to demonstrate love and kindness by sharing gifts, particularly with those in dire need. The organization noted that many Nigerians are struggling due to the harsh economic situation, which has been exacerbated by the policies of the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu-led administration.
"The current economic hardship is unprecedented in our history, with Nigerians tormented by extreme hunger, rising poverty, inequality, despair, and hopelessness coupled with widespread human rights violations," he said.
"As we celebrate Christmas, we must remember the true essence of the season, which is love, kindness, and selflessness. We urge good-spirited individuals to support the poor, starved, vulnerable, downtrodden, and marginalized around us as we celebrate the joy of Christmas with our loved ones."
Jesus Christ is the reason for the season. Therefore, it behooves on us to demonstrate love and kindness to one another and celebrate moderately and be security conscious during this festive season.
AGRO Nigeria wishes all Christians in Ekiti State and the country at large a merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year 2025 in advance; the statement reads.
