Group Berates Oyebanji, Charges Him to Keep His Campaign Promises

A civil liberties organization, Action Group Renewal Organization aka AGRO Nigeria, on Saturday, called on Governor Biodun Oyebanji of Ekiti State, to make good his promise to establish sixteen model schools in all the sixteen local government areas of Ekiti State before the end of his administration in 2026.

The group in a statement charged the Governor to fulfill his promise and ensure the establishment of the model schools in all the local government areas in the State before the expiration of his tenure.

"We hope this is not one of the promises the Governor made in the past which has become a relic of the past."

"The Biodun Oyebanji-led administration has made several promises in the past, many of which have not been fulfilled. One of such promises, was the promise he made during his inauguration in 2022, that he was going to construct 500 kilometers of farm roads by 2024, while nothing of such was done."

"He also promised to optimize Egbe and Ero Dams to supply portable water across the State; on the contrary, the good people of Ekiti State are yet to have access to portable and clean water despite a series of World Bank and other foreign donors' interventions."

"As the people of Ekiti State set to elect a new Governor in 2026, they should ensure that they demand accountability from the present administration and also hold the Governor by all the promises he has made to them, many of which have not been fulfilled."

"The fulfillment of all the promises he made to them, should be used as a yardstick for his reelection. An administration that doesn't respect or honour its social contract cum promises to the people does not deserve to be reelected" the statement reads in part.

The group enjoined the Governor to prioritize welfare and security of the people and also ensure the speedy completion of the flyover bridge project in the State capital which has taken more than enough time to be completed. And also ensure commencement of work on the site of Ekiti Knowledge Zone for which a loan of #80million USD was sought last year from the African Development Bank AfDb.
